TikTok claims over 100 million monthly active users in Europe

Rich Waterworth, general manager of TikTok Europe, recently said that TikTok has more than 100 million monthly active users in Europe, adding that TikTok will continue to expand its team in Europe in order to better serve the local market.

TikTok is Beijing-based ByteDance's video social product launched for the global market in 2017. As of June this year, TikTok has been downloaded more than 2 billion times globally, with a presence in more than 200 countries and territories.

TikTok has accumulated more than 165 million downloads in the US and has more than 91 million monthly active users.

In other words, TikTok has over 100 million active users in both the US and Europe, two important markets.

TikTok has more than 1,600 employees in Europe, including about 1,300 in the UK and Ireland alone, with responsibilities across branding, creator community, commercialization, music, product, privacy, policy and security.

Thanks to our localization strategy, a large number of quality European content creators have emerged on TikTok.

In order to promote the development of the European content ecosystem, TikTok launched the European Creators Fund earlier this month, which plans to provide โ‚ฌ250 million over the next three years to help professionalize TikTok content creators. Already, more than 40% of TikTok's European creators have joined the program.

In 2022, TikTok will build a data center in Ireland to store European user data, and Waterworth said the TikTok European data center will create hundreds of jobs in Europe.

Already, TikTok has a European data privacy team in Ireland and an EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) trust and security center in Dublin.
