China has officially launched the emergency use of the Covid-9 vaccine on July 22, Zheng Zhongwei, director of the National Health Commissionโs Science and Technology Development Centre and head of the State Council's Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism Research and Development Task Force on Vaccine, said on today's CCTV program.
According to China's Vaccine Administration Law, when there is a particularly significant public health event, the National Health Commission can use the vaccine on an emergency basis within a certain scope and time limit.
It aims to first establish an immunization barrier among special groups such as medical personnel, epidemic prevention personnel, border control personnel, and those who guarantee the basic operation of the city, so that the entire city will be able to operate in a stable manner.
The Phase III clinical study is an important step in determining whether the vaccine can be marketed for mass population vaccination. Yang Xiaoming, president of China National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm), said that on June 23, the international clinical (Phase III) launch ceremony of Sinopharm's Covid-19 inactivated vaccine in the United Arab Emirates was held simultaneously in Beijing, Wuhan, China and Abu Dhabi, UAE, by video conference.
So far, more than 20,000 people have been vaccinated, and the safety of the vaccine is very good, while its effectiveness is under further observation, he said.
On August 20 and August 21, Sinopharm signed cooperation agreements with Peru, Morocco and Argentina on the Phase III clinical trial of inactivated neocrown vaccine, and held the launch ceremony respectively. This marked the acceleration of the Phase III clinical trial of the inactivated vaccine.
More sample size and clinical trial data from different regions will greatly enhance the process of launching the inactivated Covid-19ย vaccine, and contribute China's wisdom and strength to the community of human destiny and the health and well-being of people around the world.
