The Indian government has asked the region's Google and Apple app stores to remove the Baidu Search and Sina Weibo, the India Times reported today.
Citing sources with knowledge of the matter, the report said Indian Internet service providers have also been asked to disable services for Baidu Search and Weibo, which are on a list of 47 apps banned by the Indian government on July 27. The list has not been made public.
In addition, the report also mentioned that an official with knowledge of the matter said that the local government is considering blocking more apps.
The Indian government began banning 59 Chinese apps, including TikTok, UC Browser and WeChat, in June this year.
According to previous Indian media reports, the Indian government has recently listed another 47 apps in the local markets and made it mandatory for them to be removed from the market, but the Indian authorities have not released a detailed list of these apps.
