MediaTek unveils new chip that is expected to further drive down price of 5G phones

MediaTek today announced its latest 5G SoC, the Dimensity 720, which is based on a 7nm process with an integrated low-power 5G modem.

The chip supports MediaTek's 5G UltraSave power-saving technology, which dynamically adjusts the modem's operating mode based on network conditions and data transfer to extend battery life.

The Dimensity 720 delivers a high-speed 5G experience for mid-range mobile devices with features including.

- Support the 90Hz screen refresh rate for fast and smooth gaming and streaming.

- Enhances HDR10+ video quality with MediaTek MiraVision for optimized video streaming. Supports a variety of video optimization features, such as dynamic range remapping.

- Supports flexible camera configurations up to 64-megapixel cameras and 20 + 16-megapixel dual-camera combinations. The integrated MediaTek APU (AI processor) also provides a range of AI camera enhancements.

- Integrated Voice-Wake-on-Wake (VoW) feature minimizes standby power consumption of the voice assistant. Support for dual-microphone noise cancellation technology allows the voice assistant to hear the user clearly, even in noisy environments.

The Dimensity 720 also features a powerful large core that gives the terminal the performance it needs to run the latest AI applications while maintaining ultra-low power consumption.

The Dimensity 720 is powered by an octa-core CPU that includes two 2GHz Arm Cortex-A76 cores. This improves the responsiveness of applications and provides a smooth user experience.

The Dimensity 720 also features an Arm Mali-G57 GPU, LPDDR4X memory, and UFS 2.2 flash memory for faster read and write speeds.
