Adobe is rolling out major updates to Fresco and Photoshop on the iPad, including a new vector capture tool and improved Apple Pencil pressure sensitivity settings.
In September 2019, Adobe released Adobe Fresco, a new iPad-centric drawing and painting app designed after extensive research into the general public's need for art-based apps. Since its launch, Adobe has been constantly tweaking Fresco to provide improvements.
After receiving feedback from users, Adobe is rolling out some new features that it hopes will help make Fresco a must-have art app for iPad artists.
Adobe Fresco now has a new straw tool that can be used to create some amazing effects. If you need a color, then you can use the straw tool to work the way you are used to. However, a multicolor tool has been added that allows users to sample multiple colors and then apply them with Fresco's Live Brushes.
Also new is Capture Shapes, which lets you capture an image of something you've drawn on paper and quickly turn it into a vector image to apply to a digital project.
Vector Trim is a new tool from Fresco that makes it easy to cut or remove crossed or intersecting vector graphics. This allows faster cleanup of vector images based on the touch interface.
The Strait Edge tool among Fresco has been renamed "Ruler" and has gained several new features.Ruler can now be pinned to a canvas and remember its position by zooming. Also, the iPad version of Photoshop has received some new updates.
Debuting for the first time in Photoshop for iPad, Curves allows users to make specific adjustments to the color, tone and balance of an image in a non-destructive way.
Users can easily adjust the tonal curves for all channels and take advantage of multi-node selection.Adobe plans to allow digital input for precise adjustments in a future version.
Adobe has also implemented one of the most popular features in its Photoshop app, the ability to adjust Apple Pencil pressure. Users can now take advantage of a slider tool that allows them to set their most comfortable pressure sensitivity while using the Apple Pencil.
Adobe also recently announced that artists can now get both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Fresco Premium on the iPad for just $9.99 a month.
