The number of 5G subscribers in China has exceeded 50 million, and the number of 5G end products is 67, Hu Jianbo, chief engineer of the China Information and Communication Research Institute, said today.
Of these 67 5G terminals, 60 are mobile phones and 7 are wireless data terminals.
This follows an analysis of the domestic mobile phone market operations in April released by the China ICT Institute.
The report shows that in April, the domestic mobile phone market overall shipments of 47.728 million units, a synchronized growth of 14.2%.
Among them, 5G phone shipments reached 16.382 million in April, accounting for 39.3% of overall shipments.
The report also mentioned that in April this year, 48 new models of domestic mobile phones hit the market, up 14.3 percent year-on-year.
From January to April, there were 137 new models on the market, down 18.0% year-on-year; the overall market shipments totaled 9.0681 million units, down 20.1%.
