Nintendo strives to increase Switch output this year to cope with the surge in demand, according to Nikkei Asian Review.
According to the report, Nintendo has asked multiple suppliers such as parts and OEM manufacturers to expand the number of Switch production from April to June.
Major parts companies revealed that Nintendo has notified various parts companies that it is expected that the number of Switch production units in 2020 will increase by about 10% from 2019 (a total of approximately 20 million units in each series).
Nintendo stated that โit wants to increase production to deal with it, but the supply of some parts is unpredictable, and it is not easy to say how much it can supply,โ according to the report.
It is said that some manufacturers' orders for Switch-related parts from April to June 2020 are more than 1.5 times the original plan.
Others have disclosed that โin order to prevent confusion in the supply network, there has been a trend of advance procurement.โ
Nintendo announced on April 14 that it will restart the once suspended supply of Switch Japan. Products ordered on the direct sales website will be sent from late April to mid May.
