A new Huawei patent on the WIPO website describes a new type of retractable screen product.
From the patent picture via LetsGoDigital, this product looks very similar to the current folding screen. A whole screen is distributed on the front and back sides of the fuselage, but the way of use is very different.
The folding screen is to expand the mobile phone so that the front and rear screens are on the same plane, while the patented telescopic screen is to stretch the mobile phone side and expand the back screen to the front, so as to achieve the effect of expanding the screen, the display area can be increased by 30-50%.
And because the structure of the mobile phone does not need to be folded and deformed, the back camera will not come to the front, so the retractable screen in the patent can achieve a screen ratio of nearly 100%.
This patent represents Huawei's further thinking about the future screen form. Of course, because it is a patent, we may or may not see related products.
However, if the problem of cleaning and sealing the mechanical mechanism and the screen can be solved, the telescopic screen is indeed more extreme than the folding screen.
