A few days ago, China's three major operators and several industry partners jointly released the 5G SMS white paper, which opened the prelude to the reform of the messaging service in the 5G era. According to a CCTV News report on April 11, 5G SMS will be launched this year.

For individual users, 5G SMS will break the length limitation of each message by traditional SMS and will also break through the text limitation in terms of content, so as to effectively integrate text, pictures, audio, video, location and other information.

For enterprises, 5G SMS will provide an information interaction interface with individual users. Enterprises can output personalized services and consultations to users through rich media such as text, voice, and tabs.

Huang Gengsheng, director of the Business Research Institute of China Mobile Research Institute, said:

"5G SMS is the entrance to information services, there is no need to download APP to login without account, and it has the characteristics of real-name authentication.

Through the in-depth integration of big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence, users will be provided with some personalized and intelligent interactive services to meet users' increasing demands for information services and help the digital transformation of all walks of life. "

According to Huang Gengsheng, China Mobile has been developing a 5G SMS cloud test platform since 2016. Currently, the three major operators are working together to build a test standard system for related mobile terminals.

Yang Lingcai, deputy general manager of China Telecom โ€™s marketing department, said: โ€œIn conjunction with the construction progress of 5G networks, 5G SMS should be introduced to the society in the fourth quarter of this year. Although there is no clear (tariff) plan, the 5G SMS tariff strategy should be more Has market competitiveness. "

Zhang Yunyong, general manager of China Unicom Group Product Center, said: "Operators must be interconnected and interoperable, all users can use a unified interface on the same platform, enjoy a unified service and unified experience, and unify the user group Connect to the 5G SMS platform. "

Industry insiders pointed out that 5G SMS is expected to be more likely to be charged by traffic, and it may also introduce directional traffic packages in the future, and the price is expected to be more favorable than current SMS and WeChat.

And 5G SMS can not only be used on 5G mobile phones but will also be extended to mobile phones of 4G users in the future.
