Yang Xu, global vice president of Intel and president of China region, said on April 9 that during the outbreak of the new coronavirus, two Intel factories in Dalian and Chengdu in China were not shut down for a single day, according to the Beijing News.
He said that the Intel plant is operating normally and 90% of global orders can be delivered on time.
Because Intel's products are essential, they have the highest priority in many countries and are allowed to resume production.
Intel also said that the Chengdu plant urgently produced a batch of BDW series CPUs for ventilators within 10 days.
Generally speaking, the normal delivery cycle is 2 weeks, and the customer needs are very urgent, and even hope that the goods can be received within 4 days.
After discussions at the Intel plant, it took delivery of 18,000 CPUs first, and the remaining 25,000 orders were gradually completed.
As of April 9, the Intel Chengdu plant has delivered a total of 20,000 CPUs, and the remaining 5,000 CPUs will be completed and shipped as soon as possible.
According to Intel, it has not been noticed that its chip will be used on the ventilator. "Our CPU is installed in the control computer of the ventilator, used to control the intensity, frequency, and size of the ventilator, and make appropriate adjustments according to the different breathing states of the patient."
