Why is Wi-Fi 6 nearly 3 times faster than Wi-Fi 5? What is the role of 160MHz ultra-wide bandwidth, data subcarrier, 1024-QAM high-order modulation, time efficiency, etc.? Today, Huawei explained through a video.

In simple terms, the bandwidth of routing is divided into multiple subcarriers, of which Wi-Fi 5 80MHz bandwidth has a total of 256 subcarriers, of which 234 are data subcarriers.

Wi-Fi 6 is upgraded to 160MHz bandwidth, double the speed, a total of 2048 subcarriers, of which 1960 are data subcarriers. This shows that the proportion of Wi-Fi 6 data subcarriers has increased by about 4.7%.

Between the routing and the terminal is to rely on data subcarriers for data transmission, each data transmission is equivalent to sending a batch of cars.

Wi-Fi 5 uses 256-QAM and can carry 8-bit data, while Wi-Fi 6 uses 1024-QAM and can carry 10-bit data. Using the analogy of pulling goods by cars, each car carries a larger amount of data. This is equivalent to a 25% increase in the amount of data transferred per Wi-Fi 6.

In addition, each data transmission of Wi-Fi 5 is 3.2us (microseconds) with an intermittent 0.4us; each data transmission of Wi-Fi 6 is 12.8us with an intermittent 0.8us.

It can be seen that the transmission efficiency of Wi-Fi 6 is improved by about 5.8% compared to Wi-Fi 5, the bandwidth is doubled, the proportion of subcarriers is increased by 4.7%, and the amount of data transmission per 1024-QAM is increased by 25%, time efficiency Increased by 5.8%.

Finally, Wi-Fi 5 5GHz single-stream speed is 433.3Mbps, and Wi-Fi 6 5GHz single-stream speed is 1201Mbps.

At the Huawei P40 conference, Huawei brought the world's first Wi-Fi 6+ smart router, the Huawei Routing AX3 series. The starting price of 229 yuan (only 199 yuan after the first sale discount of 30 yuan), refreshed the minimum starting threshold for Wi-Fi 6 routing.

As the world's first Wi-Fi 6+ smart router, Huawei A3X is equipped with Lingxiao 4-core 1.4GHz CPU, dual-band concurrent theoretical connection rate of 2976Mbps (2.4GHz 574Mbps + 5GHz 2402Mbps).

In the P40 unpacking video, Li Xiaolong, vice president of Huawei's mobile phone product line, tested Huawei's routing AX3 series. From the demonstration, Huawei P40 Pro only needs to touch the router and click the connection prompt to complete the connection.

Tests show that the connection speed is up to 2401Mbps. Li Xiaolong said that this is the highest speed that can be connected to in the current industry mobile phone.
