China's smart speaker shipments up 109.7% in 2019

Smart speaker shipments reached 45.89 million units in 2019, a year-on-year increase of 109.7%, according to a IDC report.

Among them, the smart speaker market shipped 13.08 million units in the fourth quarter of 2019, a year-on-year increase of 22.5%.

The report indicates that the Chinese smart speaker market has experienced explosive development in the past year, and the Matthew effect has become increasingly apparent.

The market share of leading manufacturers Alibaba, Baidu and Xiaomi exceeds 90%. Among them, Alibaba's Tmall Genie smart speaker ranked first with 15.61 million units shipped throughout the year, up 87.9% year-on-year.

Pan Xuefei, IDC China Research Manager, said:

In 2019, IP syndication, live streaming, cargo delivery, penetration into Tier 4 and 6 cities, and enhanced interactive experience are the common highlights of competition among head smart speaker manufacturers.

In 2020, the competition in China's smart speaker market will be transformed into a competition in the field of intelligent ecology based on interaction.

Whether it is the ecology of hardware or the ecology of software applications, it will become an important weight for various head manufacturers to build their moats.
