The Jack Ma Foundation said on March 17 that 500,000 masks donated to Spain arrived in Zaragoza, Spain.
The masks were donated by the Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation. They will be distributed by the Spanish Health Agency and 50,000 kits will be delivered in the future.
The aid operation was also supported by King Felipe VI of Spain.
On the same day, the two foundations donated anti-epidemic materials such as masks and test kits from Italy to Rome via the eWTP (World Electronic Trading Platform) Belgium hub, and completed the transfer with the Italian Red Cross National Emergency Center.
The epidemic is spreading in Europe. By March 17, a total of 27,980 cases had been confirmed in Italy, and 10,000 had been diagnosed in Spain. Many European countries have closed land borders.
The Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation donated 2 million masks and other materials in Europe and are arriving one after another.
In the case of the interruption of multi-country shipping in Europe, the eWTP Liege Airport Hub, co-constructed by the Belgian government and Alibaba, is still operating efficiently and has become the main channel for China-EU relief supplies.
In the next period, the rookie charter flights from Hangzhou to Liege will be increased to one-friday flights, full of rescue supplies.
"The virus runs fast, so we need to be faster!" Jack Ma Foundation said, "As long as we are fully prepared and taken seriously, the epidemic is not invincible!"
