Sinopec, one of the three biggest oil and gas companies in China, said today that the production capacity of self-produced and assisted production of masks both exceeded one million per day. Currently, they have produced 34.885 million masks.
Sinopec stated in an announcement that the first 15 mask machines purchased by Sinopec have been put into production in Beijing, and the daily mask output exceeded 1 million.
The daily output of Sinopec's collaborating enterprises that get raw materials from it also reached 1.05 million output per day.
Sinopec also said that as of now, Sinopec has produced a total of 34.885 million masks through self-production and assistance in production.
As the largest medical raw material supplier in China, Sinopec was originally the producer of the most upstream polypropylene raw material in the mask industry chain.
In order to ensure the stable price of midstream meltblown cloth and the supply of downstream mask products, Sinopec Corp. decided to open up the industry chain and fully intervene in the production of meltblown materials, meltblown cloths and masks in accordance with the requirements of the SASAC for rapid production of masks.
On February 24, Sinopec decided to invest approximately 200 million yuan in two companies, namely Beijing Yanshan Petrochemical and Jiangsu Yizheng Chemical Fiber, to quickly build meltblown non-woven fabrics (that is, meltblown fabrics) and spunbond production lines.
After the Yanshan project is put into production, it can produce 4 tons of N95 meltblown cloth or 6 tons of medical flat mask meltblown cloth every day. These materials can produce 1.2 million pieces of N95 masks or 6 million pieces of medical face masks.
Sinopec's Yizheng Chemical Fiber 4000-ton polypropylene melt-blown nonwoven project feasibility report was formally completed. The project is expected to be completed in mid-April. By then, the daily output of melt-blown cloth will reach 12 tons, which can be used to process 12 million medical flat masks.
Since March 3, Sinopec has taken the lead in selling automatic masks in the Beijing area. It has put in 30,000 masks daily at 50 gas stations designated by Beijing. The price of the masks is 3.5 yuan/piece.
However, in order to prevent speculators from stockpiling, each person is limited to ten per week, which is one box.
