In the evening of March 13, local time, the first batch of masks donatedย to Europe by Jack Ma Charity Foundation and Alibaba Charity Foundation arrived at the eWTP (World Electronic Trading Platform) hub of Liege Airport, Belgium, and will be shipped to the Italian Red Cross.
These masks were urgently prepared by many parties and completed a series of preparations such as customs clearance within two days. They reached Liege Airport in less than 72 hours.
"Vanish, o night! Set, you stars! At dawn I will win!" As a message, the package of the aria of the opera Turandot is written on the material package.
The Liege Airport eWTP hub, jointly built by the Belgian government and Alibaba, has become the main channel for China-EU epidemic relief and economic recovery.
In the past two months, multiple cross-border transport corridors have been blocked, and the Liege hub is still operating efficiently. Millions of masks, protective clothing and other materials have been shipped here through China and throughout Europe.
Since China's domestic resumption of work, more than 4 million SME parcels have been delivered to Chinese and European consumers every week.
On the afternoon of March 11, Beijing time, the Jack Ma Public Welfare Foundation and Alibaba Public Welfare Foundation announced the collection of 1.8 million masks and 100,000 virus detection kits for donation to severely infected European countries such as Italy and Spain.
When the first batch of aid to Europe arrived, Chen Tianqiang, the representative of the eWTP secretariat responsible for the cross-border logistics, said that the two foundations would add 200,000 masks to donate to Belgium.
