Tight supply of Huawei Mate Xs creates gray market-CnTechPost

After four rounds of snapping up, Huawei Mate Xs is still difficult to buy, which has also created a gray market.

From March 5th, Huawei Mate Xs is officially on sale at Huawei Mall/Major Authorized E-commerce, Huawei Experience Store/Authorized Retailer, and the list price is 16,999 yuan. From March 9th, Huawei Mate Xs limited sales time is determined to be every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

On the evening of February 24th, Beijing time, Huawei officially released its second-generation 5G folding screen phone HUAWEI Mate Xs in Barcelona, Spain. It still uses the original eagle wing outer folding design and upgrades on 5G performance. It is equipped with Huawei's first flagship 5G SoC Kirin 990 5G, adding more innovative interactive experiences at the same time.

In the latest snap-up on March 11, Huawei Mate Xs was still sold out within seconds. Some users who want to buy as soon as possible have to consider other channels.

On the second-hand e-commerce platform, Huawei Mate Xs has spawned low-cost generation and high-priced acquisitions of new businesses. Compared with the official price of 16,999 yuan, the buyer's offer price doubled and rose, ranging from 27,000 yuan to 40,000 yuan.

Xiao Nan, who just started one, bought it through a second-hand e-commerce platform. According to him, the new phone was acquired in person on March 9th, and the final transaction price was 27,000 yuan, which was 10,000 yuan more than the original price. Xiaonan also considered official channels. Since March 5th, he has been squatting and refreshing, but as soon as 10:08 arrives, the product is instantly empty. Subsequently, the March 8 snap was the same.

In order to reduce the cost of purchase, some people hang out a relatively low price of 20,000-22,000 yuan to buy Huawei Mate Xs. What they bet is that as the official delivery of new products, the overall market price will gradually become normal.

Falling prices is an inevitable development trend. The old Li who runs the ox business has experienced the fluctuation process of Huawei's generation of folding screen Mate X. According to its introduction, when it was just launched on March 5, Huawei Mate Xs had the best market price, and the asking price in the market generally started at 30,000. When it came to buyers with good money, the transaction price could reach up to about 60,000 yuan.

However, as Huawei's official sales restriction increased to three times a week, Huawei's Mate Xs market also began to fall. Lao Li revealed that the current market price is basically around 27,000 yuan.

For those buyers who are unwilling to pay more than 10,000 yuan, the cattle have another special service-purchasing, with prices ranging from 50-200. According to Mr. Li, purchasing is actually similar to the Spring Festival ticketing software. Buyers register their accounts in advance, and sellers charge according to their numbers. The more accounts they participate in, the greater the chance of winning.

One of the reasons that makes Huawei Mate Xs โ€œdifficult to buy is the lack of supply due to the complexity of the supply chain. In the 2020 smartphone industry forecast given by IDC, it was limited by the yield, price, and With limited usage scenarios and crowds, the folding screen mobile phone will still exist as a very niche product in the short term. It is estimated that the market capacity of the folding screen mobile phone in the domestic market will be less than 400,000 units in 2020.
