A Samsung Electronics executive said the plant in Gumi, South Korea, will be completely shut down and closed until next Monday (February 24) because an employee was infected with the new coronavirus, according to Bloomberg.
Samsung has two cell phone production lines in Gumi, about 200 kilometers (124 miles) southeast of Seoul, for some high-end smartphones.
Although Samsung has transferred about half of its smartphone production to Vietnam, it still produces some advanced models at its Gumi plant in South Korea.
The report said that the suspension of the Gumi plant may affect the production of Samsung's high-end models, including the foldable Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Fold.
According to information from South Korean authorities, as of 16:00 on the 22nd local time, South Korea has again confirmed 87 new infections with new coronavirus, and the total number of confirmed infections has risen to 433.
On February 19, a 63-year-old man died of pneumonia at Chiang Dao Hospital, and New Crown Virus was detected in the remains.
Another 54-year-old female patient in the same hospital died on the 21st due to infection with the new coronavirus, becoming the second patient in South Korea to die of the new coronavirus.
