Huawei continues to occupy the largest share of the microwave transmission market, gaining a 29% share in the fourth quarter of 2019, market research firm Dell'oro Group reports.
The report said that after a slight rebound in 2018, the microwave transmission market declined in 2019 due to a sharp slowdown in the Indian market.
According to Dell'oro estimates, vendor sales to Indian operators have fallen by more than 50% in 2019.
Dell'oro said that supplier market share during the quarter was more volatile than usual. In this market, the top three vendors are usually Ericsson, Huawei and NEC.
However, in the fourth quarter of 2019, Nokia surpassed Ericsson for the first time and occupied the second place in the market.
E-band and V-band shipments performed better than expected during the quarter, driving the annual growth rate back to more than 20%.
According to Jimmy Yu, vice president of Dell'oro Group, in the field of microwave technology, Dell'oro believes that due to its ultra-high capacity (10Gbps), small footprint and low spectrum licensing costs, E-band and V-band Great growth potential.
In addition to these advantages, the availability of multi-band solutions that combine standard microwave frequencies with E-band is also expected to drive demand for E-band systems.
