Since touch screen replaced traditional physical buttons to become the mainstream mode of operation, the dispute over the product form of mobile phones has come to an end, and bar phones have the last laugh.

However, although the experience of a straight bar phone is more advantageous, it will inevitably cause aesthetic fatigue over time. Until the arrival of the folding screen phone, we saw something different.

A number of folding screen mobile phones have appeared on the market in 2019.The most representative ones are Samsung Galaxy Fold, Huawei Mate X, and Motorola Razr 2019. The first two use a left-to-right folding design. The core purpose is to fold to increase the screen display area, the latter is folded up and down, which mainly solves the problem of portability.

Probably because the project is relatively early, the overall hardware configuration of Motorola Razr 2019 is not high. Its main screen is a 6.2-inch foldable OLED display with a resolution of 2142 ร— 876, a secondary screen of 2.7 inches and a resolution of 800 ร— 600, a front camera of 5 million pixels, and a rear 16-million-pixel main camera, ฦ’/1.7 aperture.

Regarding the overall appearance of Motorola Razr 2019, I believe that friends who pay attention to mobile phone products should have more or less understanding. In contrast, its internal structure is undoubtedly more interesting.

Not long ago, iFixit also disassembled the Motorola Razr 2019.

Although the front screen is a whole, the back of Motorola Razr 2019 is composed of two parts, this time the disassembly work iFixit chose to start from the back cover below.

The operation is basically the same as before. After heating for a certain period of time, you can open it carefully with a pick.

However, one thing to note in this process is that because there is a Home button under the front of the fuselage, a cable is connected between the inside and the motherboard. Before removing the back cover, you must first disconnect the cable.

After completing the above work, the removal of the rear cover of Motorola Razr 2019 came to an end. At the first glance of the rear cover, you can see that a battery is placed in the lower half of the fuselage. The overall internal structure is not too complicated, and there are not too many special places.

Continue down and use a screwdriver to unscrew the screws below the front of the fuselage. IFixit chose to remove one of the batteries first. The whole process is not difficult, and the fixing method between the battery and the fuselage is still traditional glue.

The vibration motor is located at the bottom of the fuselage. During the disassembly process, iFixit found that Motorola Razr 2019 added some special slime to the motherboard. According to previous official publicity materials, these should be nano coatings used to play a certain waterproof role.

Focus on the motherboard part. The main board of Motorola Razr 2019 adopts a square structure design, which is a relatively regular one in today's mobile phone products. Each major electrical component is provided with a shield cover.

For core electronic components, it uses Snapdragon 710 SoC, Samsung KM2V7001CM LPDDR4 memory, SDR660 003 radio frequency chip, Qualcomm PM670 and PM670A power management chip.

The next step is the disassembly of the rear main camera part. This process is theoretically simple and there is not much to say. However, in our previous disassembly process, the camera cable of some products will be more brittle, and you need to be careful when disassembling it, otherwise it will easily cause problems such as breakage.

In addition to the battery we saw in the front, Motorola Razr 2019 is also equipped with a battery in the upper part of the fuselage, its internal wiring will pass through the middle hinge part, you need to pay attention when removing.

It can be seen from the disassembly diagram that its two batteries have a capacity of 1245mAh and 1265mAh, respectively, and a total size of 2510mAh. Of course, the design of the two batteries is also easier to understand. After all, the body size is limited, and it is more difficult to place a large battery like the Samsung Galaxy Fold.

On the shaft part, Motorola is equipped with complex gears and spring structures in the inside. On the one hand, it can provide support for the foldable screen, on the other hand, it can play a tightening role.

In summary, because of the many curved cable designs inside the Motorola Razr 2019 and the addition of a hinge structure at the same time, it also requires extra care in the disassembly process.

From the perspective of maintenance, once the screen or battery and other electrical components fail, it is necessary to disassemble the fuselage to complete the replacement. This will be more troublesome, so this time iFixit only gave a 1-point repairable score (The lower the score, the harder it is to repair).

Of course, after all, this is only its first-generation folding screen mobile phone, and there is still much room for optimization in structural design. As such devices gradually start to mature in the future, repairability should also be improved accordingly.
