Mobile Internet data consumed by Chinese users reached 2.716 million TB during the Spring Festival holiday of 2020 (January 24-January 31), a year-on-year increase of 36.4%, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said on Friday.
Mobile data traffic consumption on New Year's Eve and the first day of New Year increased by 42.1% and 40.8% year-on-year respectively.
As people respond to the government's call for epidemic prevention and control during the Spring Festival, activities such as Spring Festival video sharing have become the main means of entertainment and interaction, driving the increase in mobile traffic.
In addition, driven by various public welfare text messages such as epidemic warning, traffic conditions, public health tips, and prevention and control knowledge, the total number of mobile text messages sent during the Spring Festival holiday was 21.96 billion, a year-on-year increase of 21.3%.
