Zhuhai Gree Electric was granted a design patent for a foldable smartphone on December 24, according Tianyancha database.
The company is the operating entity of Gree Electric Appliances, which is China's leading air-conditioning manufacturer. It was established in December 1989 and has a registered capital of about 6 billion yuan. It submitted the foldable phone patent application on April 24, 2019.
It is worth noting that in addition to applying for folding screen mobile phone patents in 2019, Gree also applied for patents such as robots, steam car washers, face scanning methods, and graphical user interfaces on computer displays.
At the 2019 "Let the World Fall in Love with China" Summit Forum held at Gree headquarters, many guests got a Gree 3rd generation mobile phone for free.
