Huawei may equip the P40 Pro smartphone, to be released in the first half of next year, with five rear cameras, Slash Gear reported on Thursday. Previously, HMD Global had tried a similar solution on Nokia 9 PureView.
In recent years, Huawei smartphones have put a lot of effort into the cameras and set industry benchmarks in a number of tests. So when the mobile phone camera war became more and more heated, more cameras began to appear on mobile devices.
As for the possible rear camera layout of Huawei P40 Pro, it is reported that the rectangular camera module will be slightly raised. While continuing the current design style, an additional lens is added, which is very different from the vertical arrangement of Xiaomi Note 10 and CC9 Pro.
It's tall enough to accommodate eight sensors, but the Huawei P40 Pro chose to place four of its lenses in one row and the other zoom lens in a separate row. It is said that the main camera uses Sony's IMX686 sensor with a specification of 64 million pixels.
There are also 20-megapixel ultra-wide-angle, 12-megapixel periscope telephoto, unspecified macro lens, and 3D ToF (time-of-flight) sensor for depth perception and augmented reality (AR) applications.
It is also interesting that the front of the aircraft, although not yet disclosed, is expected to use a front dual camera opening to accommodate a 32MP selfie camera + 2MP depth sensor.
