Tesla completed building the first V3 Superchargers in Shanghai on Friday and opened it to the public, marking the official entry of the Superchargers in the Chinese market which is also Asia's first V3 Superchargers.
According to Tesla, the V3 Superchargerss can support a peak charging power of up to 250kW, which is more than double the V2 Superchargers.
Take the Model 3 long range model as an example, under the peak power condition, using the V3 Superchargers for 5 minutes can reach a range of about 120 kilometers, ideally the average user's average charging time can be reduced by about 50%.
In addition, the V3 Superchargers uses a lighter liquid-cooled charging cable than the V2 Superchargers, and has the features of multi-vehicle charging without shunting, which means that even if two Tesla share a V3 Super Charging Pile, it can maintain the peak charging power of 250kW per vehicle will not be shunted.
Tesla also introduced On-Route Battery Warm-up feature.
When the user navigates to the super charging station using the vehicle, the vehicle heats the battery in advance to ensure that the battery reaches the most suitable temperature range for charging when it arrives at the charging station. This feature reduces the average charging time by 25%.
Data show that as of now, Tesla has completed more than 300 supercharging stations in more than 140 cities in China, with more than 2,200 supercharging stations and more than 2,100 destination charging stations.
