Ren Zhengfei: US suppression prevents my retirement plan-CnTechPost

On Wednesday morning, Huawei released a summary of its founder Ren Zhengfei's interview with Latin American and Spanish media. The interview date was December 11, 2019, and the venue was Shenzhen, China.

In this interview, Ren Zhengfei talked about 5G development in Latin America, Huawei's Harmony OS, and temporary license extension.

A reporter from Peru asked that when you (Ren Zhengfei) founded Huawei, the ideals of that time should have been realized by now, and Huawei has become a very successful company. What kind of motivation do you still have to continue to lead Huawei in such a complicated environment?

Ren Zhengfei replied that it may be because the United States always suppresses us and motivates us. Originally, he was going to retire, then he hit me (Huawei) and left himself to work for the public relations department.

A reporter from the Spain said that Spanish operators, such as Telefรณnica, not only have their own operations in Spain, but also many businesses in Latin America. Is Huawei willing to support Telefรณnica's construction of 5G networks in Latin America?

Ren Zhengfei replied that the first 5G in Spain will build the best 5G network in Europe, and we can make a model in Europe. We are very confident. Second, we have cooperation with Telefonica in Latin America and also support Telefonica in Latin America. Development of the Americas.

A reporter from Mexico also raised two questions.

The first question is about Huawei's Harmony OS. What is the relationship between Huawei's Harmony OS and Google's Android system? Is it used to replace Android?

Second, if Huawei is going to develop a Harmony OS, will it invite other manufacturers to produce Harmony OS terminals in the future? There is also a problem. Currently, the United States is extending the temporary license of Huawei. If it is not extended one day, will it have a huge impact on Huawei's terminal business? Especially in overseas markets, such as Huawei smartphones can not use Google's related services?

Ren Zhengfei said first that whether the list of US entities has been postponed has no effect on Huawei. Second, the Harmony OS is open source for each country and supports SMEs in each country to innovate on this platform.

Huawei has a deep learning cluster in Songshan Lake. This cluster can be sold to various countries. Each country learns on the cluster and deep learning to form its own digital sovereignty. Huawei supports countries to form their own digital sovereignty.
