Telefonica, one of Germany's three major telecommunications operators, announced on December 11 that it will expand network construction in the next few years.
It plans to continue leveraging Nokia and Huawei's technology when building 5G networks as it does now, according to CCTV.
Whether to allow Huawei equipment to enter the German 5G market has become one of the hot topics in German politics.
Previously, Germany's largest telecom operator Deutsche Telekom announced that it would replace all Huawei components with its core network within two years.
On November 8, German Chancellor Angela Merkel stated that Germany attaches great importance to the security requirements and verifiability of enterprises involved in the construction of 5G networks, but will not set standards for a specific supplier alone.
She said that Germany will definitely increase the security standards for 5G networks, and all equipment suppliers must adhere to the same security standards.
As an equipment supplier, Huawei has actively participated in the construction of 2G and 3G networks in Germany. Germany will not set a standard for a specific supplier. She also called on the EU to develop uniform 5G network security standards.
