Huawei says 8 older phones will support colorful Always on Display function-CnTechPost

Eight older Huawei phones will support the colorful AOD function in the first quarter of 2020, Wang Chenglu, president of Huawei's consumer business software department, said On December 8.

The eight devices include Huawei P30, P30 Pro, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 Porsche Design, Mate 20 X (4G), Mate 20 X (5G), Nova 5 Pro and Honor Magic 2.

Huawei said previously that the colorful AOD only supports OLED screens and Kirin 990 chip models. However, Wang Chenglu revealed today that the older model will also be able to use the AOD function.

AOD is short for Always on Display. The function is named as the off-screen display on Huawei phones.

It allows some important information to be always displayed on the phone without turning on the entire mobile phone screen.
