Huawei exec explains why they plan to move research center out of US-CnTechPost

Yang Chaobin, president of Huawei's 5G product line, said that continuing to place research institutions in the United States is of no value to Huawei and thatโ€™s why they plan to transfer its R&D center from the United States to Canada.

Yang Chaobin said during an event on December 4, "The United States has put Huawei on the entity list. According to the list, we cannot communicate directly with American institutions. We continue to place research institutions in the United States. For Huawei, There is no value, so we can only transfer our investment to a country that can accept Huawei, so Canada is also an option. "

Huawei plans to move its research center from the United States to Canada, the founder of the Chinese telecoms equipment maker Ren Zhengfei said in a recent interview withย Globe and Mailย of Canada.

Ren said Huawei's center for research and development will be moved out of the United States and that will be relocated to Canada, adding the company will also manufacture some mobile network equipment outside China.

In responding to this move, Yang Chaobin said โ€œwe took the initiative to establish a security center in the United Kingdom, and we established a transparency center in Belgium. Any government, operator, third-party independent organization can go to see our source code. Why does the US always say that Huawei has network security issues? We believe in the world Seven billion people have their own wisdom and can make their own correct judgments. "

"Putting Huawei on the physical list in the United States has no impact on our 5G commercial development and deployment, but putting Huawei on the physical list has indeed caused real harm to many American companies and destroyed the entire industry's revival."

Yang Chaobin said that Huawei started a multi-vendor strategy 10 years ago, and any component used in Huawei equipment will not depend on a single supplier and a single country. Even in the most difficult circumstances, he still believes that Huawei can continue to develop.
