Honor V30 and V30 Pro unveiled with 5G and 40MP triple camera-CnTechPost

Honor on Tuesday released the V30 and V30 Pro, the first 5G phones by the company powered by the Kirin 990 chipset and come with five cameras.

The devices pack 6.57โ€ LCDs of Full HD+ resolution. The fingerprint scanner is on the side just as on the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro. The back features a large elevate piece in the corner that hosts the triple camera setup.

The Honor V30 has Kirin 990 chipset onboard along with Balong 5000 5G modem for 5G connectivity, while the Honor V30 Pro is driven by the 7nm Kirin 990 5G which is integrated with a 5G modem.

Both phones come with 40 MP main cameras and share the main 40MP Sony IMX600 sensor with Dual OIS and laser AF, but the Pro version has a faster F/1.6 lens compared to the F/1.8 optics on the V30.

Then there's the 8MP telephoto cam with 3x optical zoom, F/2.4 lens and OIS, which is the only module that's identical between the two.

The largest difference comes in the ultra wide angle cameras - the Honor V30 Pro has a 12MP sensor that's also better tailored for video recording with its 16:9 ratio and F/2.2 lens.

The regular V30, on the other hand, has an 8MP F/2.4 ultra wide camera with a conventional sensor.

The Honor V range is usually released globally as the View series and offers competitive specs based on parent company Huaweiโ€™s latest technology: this yearโ€™s View 20 debuted with a 48-megapixel camera, Kirin 980, and hole-punch selfie camera, for example.
