Huawei said a ban that blocks US carriers from using federal subsidies to purchase its equipment or services is unlawful and would make US consumers suffer from higher costs.
The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted 5-0 Friday to designate Huawei and ZTE as national security risks, barring their US rural carrier customers from tapping an $8.5 billion government fund to purchase equipment or services.
The FCC also voted to propose requiring those carriers to remove and replace equipment from Huawei and ZTE from existing networks.
In respond to this, Huawei said on Saturday the FCCโs decision is based on partial information and misunderstanding of Chinese law.
Designating Huawei as national security risks without any evidence not only violate the principle of procedure justices but also is unlawful.
Huawei said banning its equipment cannot improve the US network security condition at all and the FCC is clear about that.
Huaweiโs business spread across more than 170 countries and territories where there have never been severe security incidents, it said.
Huawei urged the FCC to reconsider the decision and expressed a willingness to communicate with the US government and decision makers in an open manner.
