Huawei is bringing the punch-hole display to a a tablet for the first time.
The company is developing a tablet with a punch-hole display under the codename Marx, 91mobiles reported Saturday citing a source.
This will be the first time the punch-hole design is used on a tablet. Typically the hole-punch is used to house the selfie camera on smartphones.
The device will support the company's smart magnetic keyboard and the M-Pen stylus, which means it is likely the successor of the MediaPad M6 and may be called MediaPad M7, according to the report.
The renders of the device suggests a in-display fingerprint sensor might be used on the tablet, allowing Huawei to make the bezels around the screen slimmer and has eliminated the fingerprint sensor.

At the bottom, the MediaPad M7 will feature the USB Type-C port, which will be flanked by speaker grilles on either side. Since the magnetic keyboard is present in the renders, the contact points for the keyboard will be at the same point as the predecessor.
The fate of the 3.5mm audio jack on MediaPad M7 is uncertain as it is not present at the bottom edge โ on the MediaPad M6, it was present on the left corner, so this positioning makes spotting the 3.5mm audio jack a little more difficult, according to 91mobiles.
Here is a leaked image of the MediaPad M7 in real life:
The MediaPad M6 is Huawei's flagship tablet for this year. Available in three variants โ 10.8โ, 8.4โ, and an 8.4โ Turbo Edition.

The MediaPad M6 is powered by the Kirin 980 processor and comes with 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB or 128GB of expandable storage. The Turbo Edition has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The resolution is 2560 x 1600 across models.
The tablets pack a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. Only the 10.8-inch version has a fingerprint scanner and it is situated in front. All three have four-channel speakers, charge via USB-C, run Android 9 Pie, and are available in WiFi-only and LTE variants.
