Huawei Mate X could come to China on Oct 23-CnTechPost

cnTechPost reported previously that Huawei's first foldable phone, the Mate X, may be launched in China as soon as the end of this month. Now there is report mentioning an exact date of launch.

Sources say the Mate X will be unveiled in China on October 23. Reservations will open up on the same day and sales will be live in the first week of November, according to Chinese tech site CNMO.

It has also been reported that only 300,000 units of the Mate X are available. This is less than the 700,000 units Samsung made for its Galaxy Fold which is the Mate X's rival.

The new date may be real since Huawei CEO, Richard Yu, revealed during the Mate 30 series launch that the Mate X will begin shipping in a month.

A previous cnTechPost report also mentioned that Huawei will launch the Mate X as soon as the end of this month and mass production has already began.

Huawei Mate X foldable phone may go on sale in China this month

Because of the difficulty of producing the foldable screens, the supply of the device will be small.

Huawei first introduced the Mate X earlier this year at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 at โ‚ฌ2,299 ($2600).

It has been more than 6 months since Huawei showed us the Mate X foldable phone but the device is yet to be available for purchase. It was first expected to launch in June but didn't.

It delayed the device's launch to optimize its software system to deliver a unique experience using a foldable screen. The company affirmed that it will be responsible for every device it has ever launched and wants to avoid display issues experienced by its competitors.

โ€œAs a new breed of smartphones, Huawei Mate X combines 5G, foldable screen, AI and an all-new mode of interfacing to provide consumers with an unprecedented user experience. The Huawei Mate X will be the first key for consumers to open the door to 5G smart living,โ€ said Richard Yu at the launch of the device.

Huawei said the Mate X is the โ€œworld's fastest foldable 5G smartphoneโ€, and that its position as a manufacturer of 5G network infrastructure has given it a unique advantage because the company was able to test the phone on internal 5G networks before release.
