Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi on Tuesday unveiled a new concept product -- the Xiaomi Smart Glasses Explorer Edition -- that looks little like regular glasses but delivers a smart experience.
Xiaomi said the glasses use Optical Waveguide technology, which hides a micro LED display the size of a sesame seed in the frame and allows light to be shifted spatially through a light waveguide lens.
The technology allows the smart glasses to be truly miniaturized, weighing 51g and supporting calls, displays, navigation, photography and translation.
Xiaomi Smart Glasses integrates 497 micro sensors and communication modules with a new smart terminal that operates independently, according to Xiaomi.
In addition to the basic notification display, calls, etc., it can also independently perform functions such as navigation, photography, teleprompter, image and voice translation in real time.
The glasses have an integrated quad-core ARM processor, battery, touchpad, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module, and run the Android operating system.
This is a concept product and Xiaomi has not yet announced information on its production version.
