OnePlus 9 series to come with ColorOS 11 in China, replacing HydrogenOS

Chinese phone maker OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said on March 22 that the OnePlus 9 series will ship with OPPO's ColorOS 11, replacing the company's iconic HydrogenOS for the Chinese market.

The HydrogenOS for past models will continue to be updated, and a test version of the ColorOS for the OnePlus 8 in China began available on the OnePlus forum on Monday.

The beta version of ColorOS suffers from compatibility issues with some apps and is also not available with OTA updates, the company warned.

Previously, OnePlus sold phones to Chinese users with HydrogenOS, while devices sold to overseas users came with OxygenOS. For the latter, the company has no plans to make any changes.

The OnePlus 9 series will be released and open for pre-order at 14:00 on March 24, and go on sale on March 30.

The OnePlus 9 series is powered by the 5nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, LPDDR5 memory, and UFS 3.1 flash memory.

The phone uses a new thermal design and dual stereo speakers, and the screen set 13 records, earning it a DisplayMate A+ rating.

The OnePlus 9 Pro uses a 2K, 120Hz LTPO flexible screen that can save up to 50% of the power with an adaptive refresh rate.

The OnePlus 9 series camera IMX789 supports shooting [email protected] video and 12bit RAW format with "Hasselblad Pro Mode".

Lau earlier said that the OnePlus 9 series comes with a 2-year warranty, unlike the 1 year that is common in the industry.
