Chinese search engine giant Baidu has recently launched a Beta version search page for developers with a much simpler interface.
The page can be accessed at https://kaifa.baidu.com with only a search box prompting "Please enter search terms" and a search button on the right, in contrast to Baidu's search interface for ordinary users.
Baidu Developer Search Beta currently lists search results from three technical sites: cnblogs, CSDN, and Zhihu, filtering out useless search results from other sites, and excluding advertisements.
Baidu created the "Bidding Rank" model in 2001 so that search technology and traffic turned into commercial returns, Baidu has since become an advertising service provider.
But too many ads have made the user experience worse, and the company has been revisiting a business practice that has lasted for years.
"Baidu will re-examine the business model of its products to see if excessive profitability has affected the user experience," Robin Li, the company's CEO, once said, "For the results of commercial promotions, Baidu will change the past price-based ranking mechanism to one based on credibility and supplemented by price.
