A joint lab between Chinese smartphone maker OPPO and Zhejiang University was inaugurated on January 24 to integrate the resources from both sides to conduct joint technical research in image color management, display color quality assessment, and comfort display.
The research direction of the lab involves sensor imaging applications, screen color compensation, color psychology, visual health and comfort display, and other color-related topics.
Previously, OPPO has developed a color compensation system, allowing users to select the corresponding mode according to their own visual conditions to get a better visual experience.
In addition, the OPPO Find X2 series was released last year with OPPO's self-developed comfort display technology - AI Adaptive Eye Care System.
The eye protection system can automatically adjust the screen color temperature according to the environment, and adjust to the most suitable screen brightness by learning user habits.
Not long ago, a new color technology - OPPO full-link color management system was announced at the OPPO 2020 INNODAY conference. It is the first to realize the full-link 10bit image and video capture, including the two core technologies of full-link 10bit and color management.
The full-link 10bit covers the entire image processing process of acquisition, encoding, storage, decoding, and display, and is capable of processing 10bit data at all stages.
Color management can maximize the effect of the hardware and solve the problem of image information loss caused by the lack of color management among the links.
The OPPO Find X3 series to be released in March will be the first to carry this color management system. It is also expected to use the latest Samsung E4 light-emitting materials to create a high specification screen that supports at least 5000000:1 contrast ratio, 1000nits brightness.
