China will accelerate 5G coverage in major cities and build more than 600,000 new 5G base stations in 2021, Chinese Minister of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) Xiao Yaqing said on Monday.
According to Xinhua, Xiao said that 5G construction should be used as traction to coordinate the deployment of data centers and computing facilities.
China will also focus on 10 key industries, form 20 typical industrial application scenarios, carry out pilot industrial 5G private networks, and release 5G millimeter-wave frequency planning for some frequency bands in due course, he said.
The ministry will also promote network optimization and upgrading to push the scale of gigabit coverage to more than 200 million users.
In addition, the ministry will also increase the App infringement of user rights and interests rectification efforts, to complete 1.8 million App testing.
Earlier this month, Liu Liehong, vice-minister of the MIIT, said China has built the world's largest 5G network, with a cumulative total of 718,000 5G base stations completed.
The MIIT said in late September that the next step will be to steadily advance network construction. At the same time, it will strengthen research on 6G development directions and key technologies.
