US electric car startup Rivian said Wednesday it will launch a small electric car for the Chinese and European markets, and could eventually produce cars in the two markets.
Rivian is an up-and-coming electric car maker that was founded in 2009 and is 11 years old.
Currently, the company's investors include Ford, Amazon and Cox Automotive, among others. The company's first factory is located in Normore, Illinois, USA, and it has already begun test production.
The company will launch three models next year, the R1T electric pickup truck, the R1S electric SUV and a large electric delivery truck for Amazon.

The company's R1T electric pickup will compete with the likes of Tesla's Cybertruck electric pickup, Ford's F-150 EV and GM's Hummer EV.
Last week, Rivian said its R1T electric pickup truck and R1S electric SUV will begin taking reservations.
The initial versions of the R1T and R1S will start at $75,000 and $77,500, respectively, and each will have a range of 300 miles, meaning both models will be powered by Rivian's 135kWh battery pack.
The company will begin deliveries of the first versions of the R1T and R1S in the US in June 2021 and August 2021, respectively, with deliveries of both models scheduled to begin in Canada in November 2021.
Late last September, Rivian announced a partnership with Amazon to develop an electric delivery van using Rivian's platform technology, which is expected to begin delivering packages to customers in 2021.
Amazon's order for 100,000 EVs from Rivian is the largest order Rivian has received since its inception.
