OPPO unveiled its second AR Glass concept product, the OPPO AR Glass 2021, at the OPPO INNO DAY 2020 event held today.
Compared to its predecessor, the OPPO AR Glass 2021 achieves enhancements in the wearing experience, optical solution, interaction method and content ecology.
The OPPO AR Glass 2021 features a new "split design" and is compact and lightweight, nearly 75 percent lighter than its predecessor.
The OPPO AR Glass 2021 connects to the Find X2 Pro via a C to C cable and relies on the Snapdragon 865 to deliver more than 40 percent improvement in CPU and GPU performance, respectively.
The OPPO AR Glass 2021 features Birdbath optics, which improves contrast by 53 percent, brightness uniformity by 98 percent and pixels per degree by 40 percent over the previous generation.
The OPPO AR Glass 2021 reflects light from a 0.71-inch ultra-clear OLED projection screen to the human eye, which is the equivalent of a 90-inch screen viewed from 3 meters away.
In terms of interaction, OPPO AR Glass 2021 supports mobile phone interaction, gesture interaction & spatial positioning, and voice interaction.
OPPO AR Glass 2021 is equipped with a ToF lens, binocular fisheye camera and IMU to form a spatial positioning system to achieve centimeter-level, 1° within the positioning accuracy.
Its ToF lens performs environmental scanning and plane detection in a time-dependent manner to ensure a correct and stable 6DoF attitude and to ensure the user's space continuity at all times.
PPO said it will further explore voice interaction in the AR field based on Breeno in the future.
OPPO AR Glass 2021 supports AR movie viewing, AR games, AR home and AR shooting.
In addition, the OPPO AR Glass 2021 has a built-in RGB camera that can capture virtual and real images at the same time, enhancing the fun of the AR experience.
The OPPO AR Developer Program will be officially launched in 2021, including developer recruitment, developer salon and developer support programs.
OPPO will provide a complete end-side SDK and development toolchain that supports a variety of interfaces, and will later connect OPPO Mobile AR and OPPO AR Glass platforms to help developers create cross-platform, user-level AR applications.
