In September, Huawei released the EMUI 11, which added features like calling the police via video and earthquake alerts. Now the earthquake early warning feature is finally here.
According to Weibo digital blogger @鹏鹏君驾到, after upgrading the Mate 40 series to the latest EMUI 11, users can find the "Emergency Alert Notification" in the "System Settings" - "Security", which can be accessed to enable the earthquake alert.
With this function enabled, when the phone detects an earthquake, it will send an earthquake warning notification.
Before the seismic wave arrives, the phone will broadcast a digital countdown alarm tone and a vibration alert to remind users to get out of danger as soon as possible.

After the seismic wave arrives, the phone system will provide a quick help portal for users to navigate to the nearest shelter and check emergency contact numbers.
The feature will soon be gradually updated and pushed to other Huawei and Honor phones that are compatible with EMUI 11.
However, the feature will initially support Sichuan province, with information from the Chengdu High-Tech Institute for Disaster Risk Reduction and with official authorization. It will support more regions in the future.
