China Mobile recently unveiled the world's largest "5G + BeiDou high-precision positioning" system at the 5G Autopilot Summit, which will provide sub-meter, centimeter, and millimeter high-precision positioning services in real time through 5G networks.
Baidu Maps said it took the lead in reaching an in-depth cooperation with China Mobile to access the "5G + BeiDou high-precision positioning" system, becoming the first map vendor in the industry to support the carrier's consumer-grade mobile phone precision positioning system, which will bring high-precision lane level navigation services to users of mainstream brand smartphones.
According to China Mobile, its "5G + BeiDou high precision positioning" system has comprehensively improved positioning availability in multiple dimensions, such as positioning signal stability, positioning signal transmission speed, initial positioning speed, positioning signal transmitting source deployment capability, etc., and can effectively guarantee lane level navigation, indoor navigation, automatic driving, automatic parking and so on.Realization of high precision positioning scenes.
Under the application of "5G+BeiDou High Precision Positioning" system, Baidu Maps lane level navigation will show complex intersections, special markings or special lane scenes in greater detail while users are driving, highly recreate the driving environment and guide users into the best lane.
At the same time, in order to solve the problem of unclear judgment of main and secondary roads, Baidu Map lane level navigation also achieves second-level yaw correction and accurate guidance of driving users in ramp, main and secondary road scenes.
In addition, Baidu Maps also launched a lane level real-time road conditions feature, which will provide users with an effective reference for travel decisions based on more fine-grained real-time road conditions, which currently covers most highways and urban roads across the country.
With the "5G+BeiDou High Precision Positioning" system, the upgraded version of Baidu Maps lane level navigation will soon cover five cities, namely Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Suzhou, Chongqing and Hangzhou, and will continue to expand nationwide.
