Samsung Electronics' share of India's smartphone market reached 24 percent in the third quarter, ahead of Xiaomi's 23 percent, winning the first place again after two years, according to data released Thursday by market research firm Counterpoint Research.
Samsung also remained No. 1 in India's overall mobile phone market, including smartphones and feature phones.
In the third quarter, Samsung's smartphone sales in India grew 32 percent year-on-year, increasing its market share by 4 percentage points.
In contrast, Xiaomi's market share declined by 3 percentage points year-on-year.
Vivo (16 percent) and Realme (15 percent), in third and fourth place, both lost 1 percentage point in market share.
OPPO, in fifth place, had a 10 percent market share, up 2 percentage points year-on-year.
According to Canalys, another research firm, Xiaomi has the largest market share in India with 26.1 percent in the third quarter of 2020, ahead of Samsung's 20.4 percent.
