The first highly reliable 5G private network system for mines in China was put into operation in Zoucheng, Shandong province on October 17, according to local Shandong TV.
At Shandong Energy's Baodian coal mine, the new 5G network for mines has been put into operation.
The entire mine is covered with a stable 5G signal, allowing data transmission within the mine to be reduced to less than 20 milliseconds instead of the 3 to 4 seconds delay of the 4G network, the report said, adding that this enables remote, real-time control of unmanned, intelligent coal mining underground from the surface.
The 5G network, designed and developed by Beidou Tiandi, a subsidiary of Shandong Energy, mainly includes a mine 5G core network, 5G base station, 5G base station controller, 5G high-reliability controller, 5G edge computing controller, 5G CPE, 5G smartphone, etc., which can be widely applied to extremely harsh coal mine production control scenarios.
