Mobile phone shipments in China went down by 35.6 percent year on year in September to 23.3 million units, data released today by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), a government think tank, showed.
Over the past 9 months, mobile phone shipments were 225.6 million, down 21 .5 percent from the same period of last year.
Domestic 5G mobile phone shipments were 14.0 million in September and represented 60.0 percent of the total shipments. 26 new 5G models were released in the month, accounting for 44.8 percent of the total new models released in the month.
Total 5G mobile phone shipments in the first nine months were 107.7 million units, and the total number of new models was 167.

Local brands of mobile phone shipments in September were 21.6 million, down 29.6 percent year on year, accounting for 92.4 percent of the total shipments.
The number of new models released by the local brands were 51, decreased by 36.3 percent year on year, and represented 87 .9 percent of the total number of new models released in the month.
YTD local brands of Mobile phone shipments were 206.0 million, down 22.0 percent year on year, and accounted for 91.3 percent of the domestic mobile phone shipments.
The number of new models released by the local brands were 327, decreased by 15.3 percent year on year, and represented 91.1 percent of the total number of new models.
September's smartphone shipments were 22.0 million, down 36.6 percent year on year, and accounted for 94.3 percent of the total shipments in the month.
