SMIC, China’s leading contract chipmaker, said today that it has applied to the US to continue supplying Huawei in accordance with regulations, while reiterating that the company will strictly comply with the laws and regulations of relevant countries and regions, according to thepaper.cn.
September 15 is the deadline for the US to impose sales restrictions on Huawei. After that, all companies worldwide must apply for a license from the United States before supplying Huawei with products that use US technology.
SMIC is one of the world's leading integrated circuit foundries, and the most technologically advanced, largest, best-supported, and multinational professional foundry in mainland China. Huawei is one of SMIC's most important customers.
SMIC's joint CEO, Mr. Meng-Song Liang, said earlier that SMIC would abide by international regulations and could not continue to support Huawei HiSilicon after September 14.
At present, including TSMC, SK Hynix, Micron, and other chip suppliers no longer supply Huawei, after which all companies around the world to Huawei in the supply of products using US technology, must first apply for a license to the United States.
