Baidu Apollo on Thursday announced the opening of the automated taxi service Apollo Go in Beijing, where local users can book to experience Robotaxi on Baidu Maps and Apollo's official website.
The total length of Beijing's open autopilot manned test area is about 700 kilometers, covering nearly 100 stations in the living and business circles of Yizhuang, Haidian and Shunyi.
The opening up of automated driving to the public for manned test runs is a key step in the maturation and commercialization of automated driving.
Beijing is the home base and main battleground of Baidu's automated driving, and Baidu will launch 40 Robotaxi units this time.
Apollo Park, located in the Yizhuang Economic Development Zone in Beijing, is the world's largest test base for automated driving and vehicle-road collaboration applications, and is one of the hit points for the opening of Robotaxi in Beijing.
Previously, Baidu has already opened Apollo Go services in cities including Changsha and Cangzhou.
