In August, China's overall mobile phone market shipments totaled 26.907 million units, down 12.9% year-on-year, according to a report released today by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), a government think tank.
From January to August, the overall shipments in China's mobile phone market totaled 202 million units, down 19.5% year-on-year.
In August, China shipped 16.170 million units of 5G mobile phones, accounting for 60.1% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

In August, 45 new mobile phone models were listed in China, unchanged from a year earlier. A total of 301 new models were listed from January to August, down 12.2% year-on-year.
In August, 22 new 5G mobile phone models went on sale in China, accounting for 48.9% of the total number of new mobile phone models listed in the same period last year.
From January to August, China shipped 93.679 million units of 5G mobile phones and listed 141 new models, accounting for 46.3% and 46.8% of the total respectively.
In August, shipments of domestic brand handsets totaled 24.43 million units, down 15.6% year-on-year, accounting for 90.8% of handset shipments in the same period; 42 new models were listed, up 5.0% year-on-year, accounting for 93.3% of the number of new models listed in the same period.
From January to August, shipments of domestic brand mobile phones totaled 184 million units, down 21.0% year-on-year, accounting for 91.2% of mobile phone shipments in the same period; listed new models totaled 276, down 9.2% year-on-year, accounting for 91.7% of the number of listed new models in the same period.
In August, smartphone shipments totaled 25.624 million units, down 13.4% year-on-year, accounting for 95.2% of the total shipments in the same period. 196 million smartphone units were shipped from January to August, down 18.5% year-on-year, accounting for 96.8% of the total shipments.
From January to August, a total of 232 new smartphone models were listed, down 12.1% year-on-year, accounting for 77.1% of the total number of new mobile phone models listed in the same period.
