By the end of August this year, Beijing had built 44,000 5G base stations, all of which were connected to the core network of the stand-alone 5G network, achieving full coverage of the city.
An article on the official website of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) revealed this information, adding that Beijing is expected to have more than 50,000 5G base stations by the end of 2020, providing continuous outdoor coverage within the Five-ring road and secondary urban centers.
Currently, Beijing has 5.06 million 5G users.
Last month, Shenzhen announced that it had achieved full coverage of 5G stand-alone network, taking the lead in the 5G era.
As of August 14, 46,480 5G base stations have been built in Shenzhen.
