With the rapid growth of 5G in China, major handset makers are launching new 5G phones in 2020. So far, ByteDance's Smartisan has yet to launch a new device.
However, Weibo user @数码闲聊站 said today that Smartisan's Nut-branded 5G handset has passed China's radio certification, with model number DT2002C.
This means that ByteDance's 5G handset is expected to be released soon.
ByteDance Smartisan product manager Zhu Haizhou said in June that a launch date was probably set, but he wasn't allowed to announce it yet.
The new phone will also be a successor to the Nut Pro 3.
Smartisan's tech-related patent rights were acquired by TikTok's owner ByteDance in 2018.
Last October, Smartisan unveiled the Nut Pro 3, which is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor.
