In order to speed up the deployment of 5G networks, China Telecom Yunnan will gradually shut down its 3G data services as of June 1.
China Telecom says it will accelerate new network applications such as NB-IoT (Narrowband Internet of Things), 4G, 5G, etc. China Telecom Yunnan Branch has been phasing out 3G-EVDO data services since June 1.
China Telecom Yunnan advises customers who are still using 3G-EVDO data services to opt for 4G and 5G data services with better service.
If you are using a 3G mobile phone, please upgrade to a 4G or 5G mobile phone as soon as possible.
The reason why China Telecom Yunnan shut down its 2G and 3G networks is that 2G/3G takes up most of the network resources, and if Yunnan Telecom wants to have better 5G coverage, it must shut down its 2G and 3G networks and free up excess resources for 5G network construction.
