WeChat for Android 7.0.15 was released today, and the most obvious change is that the dark mode can be set individually, instead of following the system settings.
There is also a notable change: users will finally be able to modify their ID, although only once a year.
In previous versions, the text at the bottom of the input box on the Modify WeChat ID page was "WeChat ID is the unique credential of the account and can only be set once", in the latest version 7.0.15 it has changed to "WeChat ID is the unique credential of the account and can only be modified once a year".
Users who have already set up a WeChat ID will not be able to access this page, and users who have not set up a WeChat ID will be able to access it and see the changed text.
However, according to the official description from the WeChat team, the WeChat ID is not currently modifiable under normal circumstances.
"Go to WeChat->【Me】->Tap your avatar->【WeChat ID】to set your WeChat ID.
Hint: WeChat ID is unique to WeChat and cannot be changed after you set it. If you want to set up a WeChat ID that has special meaning for you, you can register a new WeChat ID to use.
The page information shows that if you want to change the WeChat ID, you need to meet several conditions at the same time:
The WeChat ID has not been modified in a year.
The account has not been frozen and the password has not been changed in the last two weeks.
Log in on the same device for more than a week.
